Being Greener: Green-ing up my wash bag contents

QuickImage Category Being greener

On my 'hit-list' of things to be greener at is my toiletries. As I have said before, I don't have an extensive beauty regime, but, as 'The Lazy girl's Guide to Green Living' says even the most un-regimed of us uses at least 10 products and I think that is probably about right. Personally I regularly use toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, shower gel, facial scrub, deoderant and perfume. I use moisturiser, depilatory cream, intensive moisturer for feet/hands, bubblebath, salt scrub and cotton buds every so often.  I use make-up, and hence make-up remover and cotton wool, occasionally.

Now I have to admit that there are some of these that I am going to struggle to give up, but as a first step last weekend I went to our local health food shop and bought up some organicy, non-paraben, non sodium laurly sulphate, recyclably-packaged goodness. I ended up with the JASON Tall Grass Shampoo, JASON aloe vera stick deoderant, COSLYS olive shower gel, Organic Surge facial scrub and a Monte Bianco toothbrush.  Having not tried any of these brands before I figured I'd start out with a variety and see which I like best. If I'm happy with what I've got then I'll stick with them and if not then maybe I'll find a brand I particularly like and I'll switch to having everything from them.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Comments

Gravatar Image1 - I've done a bit of this - I'm a big fan of Avalon Organics (I use their deodorant and often shampoo/conditioner, and now, UV protection + lotion), JÄSON, Kiss My Face (shave cream), Burt's Bees, and the stuff from Origins. :-)
Hugs and admiration for the greening you're doing!

Gravatar Image2 - Thanks honey! I know I *could* go a load further and use totally natural things like oats for a face-scrub, but this is a good first step I think.

So far most things are looking good. Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement.
