Portfoli-oh! A new way to carry my papers for work

QuickImage Category Gadgets

There are days when I work at home, not often, maybe one day a month and inevitably on those days I need to carry papers to and from the office.

The office is a half hour bus ride away and, unless I need it I leave the car at home. This is part of my 'being greener' push.
My office is the other side of Holyrood Park from home so, on nice evenings, I will often walk home; it's somewhere between 3 and 4 miles. This is part my 'doing more exercise' push.
Currently we don't have anywhere onsite at the office to buy lunch so I take lunch to work.

So all-in-all a standard briefcase is not useful and instead I rely on my very trusty, very capacious and very forgiving, Samsonite rucksack which I bought several years ago whilst at Lotusphere. It holds masses, is very comfortable to wear and has a Tardis-esque quality whereby it doesn't look totally huge when I fill it up! It is not a laptop rucksack so it has one main pocket, two smaller pockets and two bottle holders so, and here's the glitch, when I put papers in it they can get crumpled.

So when I spotted this little lovely in Paperchase yesterday my crumpled-paper days were over! I have the A4 version, but, try as I might I can't find an image of that particular one. It is a lovely sturdy felt with a full-length zip on one of the long edges. It is neat, nice and pretty-damn perfect. This evening I have filled it with the papers I brought home on Thursday for working at home on Friday and as a result they will be heading back to the office in the morning in considerably more style than they came home in.

Now I have to admit that I don't know if sturdy felt is produced in an eco-friendly way or not, but it is at least a natural fabric and I do intend on keeping it for a long-time so I guess that'll have to do for the moment. It was also very reasonably priced at under GBP11, which I also thought to be particularly good value.

I can't find a brand- or product-specific website, but they are for sale from a bunch of places on the web, of which this one has the widest selection. It is a New Zealand site so I can't guarantee that you'll be able to use them to ship it to you outside of NZ and you'll need to remember that the prices are listed in NZ$, but it does give you an idea of the range of things available.

So here's to a classier way to carry my documents!
